In 2000, Amtrak introduced the Acela train between Boston and Washington, DC. But since they never built a maintenance facility for it, repairs still take place outside in the elements. This facility, which provides essential shelter to maintain a vital part of US infrastructure, could block access and divide the site into two parts.  By raising the mid section on each wing, we provide cross site access, thereby preserving essential traffic patterns, while creating the necessary enclosure to allow maintenance on two sets of trains.
